DPC – Diritto Penale Contemporaneo originated in 2010 as a brainchild of Luca Santa Maria, and in a few years, with more than 750,000 hits and 200,000 sole users per month, it has become the leading criminal law portal in Italy.
Diritto Penale Contemporaneo wants above all to be a discussion forum on the sense of criminal law nowadays. A space open to all operators of criminal law (judges, lawyers, academics), but also to all those whose professional and personal knowledge and experience are in any way connected to criminal justice.
Nowadays this topic increasingly requires reflection, as the criminal law system is the object of expectations of part of society, but also much mistrust and, at times, open hostility from broad sectors of public opinion and their political representatives.
Diritto Penale Contemporaneo aspires to establish space for calm, reasoned reflection which respects the point of view of others. With a method that, without hiding problems, analyses and discusses them with reason and dialogue, setting its sights, if possible, beyond national boundaries.
